Jad - Know your guitar teacher
My name is Jad Al-Shakarchy, and I am a guitarist from London, studying at Guildhall School of Music and Drama. I am a passionate teacher and love to watch my students progress and grow. I have been teaching music for 4 years, and have taught A-Level Music and Music Technology. I teach all styles and levels, and am a firm believer in teaching students through their favourite music. I offer tailored lessons for each student’s level and interest, and work to help them achieve their dreams, whatever they may be! Feel free to bring in your favourite songs and I will teach you how to play them, and create a teaching plan to guide you to achieve it, no matter how difficult they may feel at the moment . I specialise in electric guitar, but can teach classical, acoustic and bass too! I want to make guitar easy and accessible for all, and lay out the path to musical progress in a clear and fun way for all of my students.

Guitar lessons quick guide
I aim to dive deep into the music my students love and show them how to approach learning it, breaking it down to its building blocks, both conceptually and technically, so that they can play and create music like it themselves. Along the way I teach music theory and craft exercises to improve my students’ understanding and technical ability. I aim to not overload my students with theory and teach small chunks and help them internalise it before moving on. I aim to teach my students how to use their ears to learn music rather than relying strictly on tablature, so that they can learn anything they want. I do also encourage the use of TABs too, as it is useful, and I also progress students to learning to read sheet music if they are interested, as that opens a world of playing music with others. I focus on deep internalisation of music and its concepts, as each song/piece learned is a key to understanding so many other songs, and I work on diagnosing key areas to work on to help my students progress as fast as possible towards their goals!
