About your french tutor
Bonjour ! My name is Emma, and I’m a native French speaker from France, currently pursuing my Master’s degree in the United States. I work as a Teaching Assistant at the university level, where I teach beginner French to college students. My approach to language learning is conversation-focused, helping students build confidence and fluency through real-life communication and cultural exploration. Before moving to the U.S., I taught French for a year in an Irish high school, working with students aged 12 to 18. I continue to tutor some of those students remotely, and I also tutor fellow educators or other adults who are trying to learn French. These experiences have helped me develop a flexible and empathetic teaching style that adapts to each learner’s needs and goals. I believe that language learning should be engaging and enjoyable. I love incorporating pop culture, travel stories, and everyday situations into lessons to make French come alive. Outside of teaching, I enjoy watching series and shows, discovering new places, and learning about different cultures, interests that often find their way into my tutoring sessions! Whether you're just starting out or looking to improve your French for school, travel, or personal enrichment, I’d be happy to support you on your language journey. À bientôt !

French classes at a glance
My teaching methodology is rooted in the ACTFL proficiency guidelines, which help me tailor instruction to meet learners where they are and guide them toward real-world communicative competence. I prioritize conversation-focused learning, encouraging students to use French in meaningful, authentic contexts. I also draw inspiration from the Common Ground framework for second language acquisition, which emphasizes interaction, comprehensible input, and the development of intercultural competence. Whether working with beginners or more advanced learners, I strive to create a supportive and engaging environment that fosters curiosity, confidence, and continuous progress. I use a variety of techtools for online learning, ensuring interactive lessons through platforms like Zoom, Teams, Google Meet and interactive whiteboards.
