Brooke - Get to know your vocal coach

Hi! My name is Brooke, and I have loved singing for as long as I can remember. I earned my Bachelor of Arts degree in 2024 with a major in music and a minor in theater from Hunter College. I have extensive experience with vocal training, music theory, sight singing, as well as music technology, as I am in the process of earning my Masters in Music Technology at NYU. I also work as a nanny for young children, so I feel comfortable teaching music at all levels - from very beginners to advanced. I can assist with all sorts of music coursework, and would also love to work with students as a vocal coach. I have plenty of experience with classical, musical theater, and pop genres. I directed multiple musical theater pieces in my undergrad, and also served as President and Music Director of Hunter College's Hawkappella, a multi-award winning acappella group. Please reach out if my experience sounds like what you are looking for, let's sing together!

Singing lessons highlights

My teaching method is reliant on meeting my students at their level. I often encounter many musicians that assume a certain level of knowledge from the people around them, and it can make others feel overwhelmed if they are at different levels of understanding. I ensure that I spend enough time with each student to fully comprehend where they are at, and make no assumptions about what they may or may not already know. You can't perform without confidence, so I make sure my students are fully assured in what they are doing in our lessons. I also have a vast knowledge of different genres of music, so I make sure to cater my lessons according to whatever genre my student is most interested in, while still incorporating skills that are useful across many different genres. Most of all, I bring a positive and upbeat attitude to each lesson to make sure we are having fun!
