Hello! My name is Mr. AJ, and I have earned my Bachelor's degree in Music Education to fulfill my life's dream of teaching voice lessons! After securing a safe and caring environment, the only thing left to add is the fun! I have thoroughly enjoyed teaching music for the last few years because it is one of the few subjects where the fun comes first, and the learning follows happily. I love the feeling of energy that flows while I teach and watch that spark of light in each of the students I am working with. Especially when working with littles, making learning fun is crucial. Children want to learn from someone who makes them feel like they are just playing silly games and singing silly songs. The trick, then, is for me to structure my lesson plans so that the games played and the music worked on are meaningful to the students and their education. I find that students of any age naturally like to listen to me because I meet them where they are at. I always approach with care and understanding so everyone can feel safe and therefore learn and have fun! Matching the energy of students can be draining, but it's ultimately worth it when everyone has a fun experience and good memories to look back on.

Singing lessons highlights
My expertise includes the teaching of Classical, Music Theater, Jazz, etc., with a focus on breath support, music expression, and healthy confidence in our authentic voices. I am well aware that singing is a very vulnerable thing to do in front of strangers. I myself have battled with stage fright and have much wisdom to share on overcoming it. I begin with teaching warm-ups to help the student be more comfortable singing with me, and so they can practice on their own. I am patient, motivational, and challenge my students when I know they can handle it! Once warm-ups are learned and practiced, the voice and body are ready for the lesson. This is when I ask students what their goals are. What does my student want or need from me to feel successful in our lessons? Whether it is a piece of music they want to learn, expanding their range, or a certain approach they want to achieve, I will structure our lessons based on that. If students want to work on a piece, I do ask that they have sheet music for the piece and would like a copy myself. This is so I may refer to the sheet music, making it easier to communicate where we are and what notes I am referring to.
