Frances - Violin teacher
My name is Frances Phillips, though I go by Frankie. I am a violinist trained in both classical and fiddle styles, with over 12 years of teaching experience. I graduated from the Walkerville Centre for the Creative Arts after a successful audition and from the Royal Conservatory of Music, where I completed my full training and earned teacher certification. I have performed with the Junior Youth Orchestra, Winter Symphony Youth Orchestra, Winter Symphony Orchestra, and the Detroit Symphony Orchestra. I was accepted into over 20 universities for music, including Juilliard. My teaching is student-focused, tailored to all ages and needs, including special needs students, and I emphasize connection, enjoyment, and growth in every lesson. I am so excited to meet you in our lesson! No matter the question, I'll always help find the answer!

Violin lessons overview
I teach primarily using the Suzuki Method, which emphasizes learning by ear, repetition, and nurturing a love of music from an early age. I combine this with a student-focused approach, taking time at the start of each lesson to understand how each student learns best and what makes music fun for them. I love incorporating songs the student wants to learn, helping lessons feel engaging and personal, while also guiding them toward the style of violin that inspires them most, whether classical, fiddle, or contemporary. My lessons focus on building strong fundamentals—posture, technique, rhythm, and scales—while encouraging expressive playing through vibrato, intonation, and repertoire. I aim to create a supportive, motivating, and enjoyable environment, helping students grow in skill, confidence, and a lifelong love of music.
