Xuitonal - Your piano teacher
Hello! My name is Xuitonal Alcasio (pronounced: shwee·thō·näl). I am a pianist and keyboardist, and have been playing and performing for over a decade. I earned my Bachelor's Degree in Music in Music Performance in 2023, and have been teaching ever since. I specialize in teaching piano and music theory. My teaching style focuses on technique, rhythm, sightreading, and ear training, as all genres require an aspect of these skills. My goal as a piano and music theory teacher is to ensure my students take pride in their improvements, no matter how big or small. In doing so, I encourage my students by creating a positive and motivational environment, to establish confidence and passion in their musical expression. I would be honored to assist you with beginning (or continuing) your own musical journey! I look forward to working with you 🎶✨

While playing the piano, hand technique, posture, and finger placement is highly important. Practicing how to sit at the piano, how to place your hands on the pinao are crucial to maintain piano playing for years to come. No matter if you're playing Old MacDonald or Moonlight Sonata, these technical practices will not only hone your skill, but also protect your body and hands from aches and pain. In college, I was known as the rhythm queen! Staying in time and practicing rhythmic notation is an important factor in all genres of music. Once the rhythm has been established, all that's needed is to apply the chosen and/or written melody. Sightreading and Ear Training tend to go hand in hand. While learning how to read and follow along with sheet music and/or charts, themes will be noticeable, and with practice, so will the sounds of the notes that accompany them.
