I take an individualistic approach to teaching, focusing on nurturing each student's unique musical voice and fostering a lifelong love for music through curiosity, creativity, and consistency. As both composer and performer, I bring deep artistic insight, technical expertise, and passion to each lesson, helping students build confidence and express themselves authentically. Currently, I teach students from 17 different countries online and in person, creating a vibrant global classroom that celebrates diversity and shared musical discovery. My individualistic approach to piano teaching emphasizes tailoring instruction to each student’s unique needs, learning style, and physicality. A core focus is on proper hand posture, ensuring relaxed, curved fingers and a stable wrist to promote fluid motion and prevent injury. Developing correct motions for every technique, be it scales, arpeggios, or complex passages is central. Modern principles like arm weight, forearm rotation, and free fall play a pivotal role in achieving a natural and efficient technique. Arm weight helps create a rich tone without unnecessary effort, rotation supports ease in lateral movements, and free fall fosters gravity-assisted playing for effortless sound production. The concept of tension and relaxation is critical, teaching students to identify unnecessary strain and release it to maintain fluency and endurance. Complex ideas are broken into smaller, manageable steps, ensuring even advanced techniques are easy to understand. This holistic method builds a solid foundation and encourages artistry.
