Seth - Violin teacher
Welcome! My name is Seth — you can call me Mr. Seth, Seth, or even “Hey Fiddleman!” 😊 I am an accomplished violin player with many years of live performance experience. Since 1995, I’ve composed and recorded string arrangements and solo acoustic/electric violin on more than 30 albums produced here in the Northwest (I even have Spotify playlists of some of these recordings I’d love to share). I am also an educator who has worked with children aged 4–10, and I’m offering lessons here on Wiingy to beginners of any age. My teaching style is supportive, flexible, and student-centered — I work at your pace, toward your goals, and in your comfort zone. I also play some piano and guitar, and I’m a lifelong music nerd, so we can explore music theory basics, improvisation, or draw inspiration from our favorite recordings. I’ve performed in projects spanning classic rock, avant-garde classical, experimental, punk, country, and folk. This breadth helps me show students how violin can fit anywhere.

Violin lessons overview
My teaching style is flexible, creative, and student-centered. That means: * For young learners: I bring in playful activities, songs, and improvisation to keep lessons fun and confidence-building. * For students in school orchestra: I’ll help you with your assigned music, tricky passages, and bowing challenges so you feel ready and supported. * For adult beginners: Whether you’re new to music or already play another instrument, we’ll focus on the music you love from popular songs to your dream pieces and build skills at a pace that feels right. While I have great resources and a loose curriculum for both children and adults, lessons are always shaped around the student’s goals and comfort level. I believe there’s no such thing as pass/fail in music — just growth. My aptitude for improvisation helps me “go with the flow,” stepping away from rigid plans when needed, while my attentiveness ensures students feel supported and understood. Your dream to make beautiful music will be nurtured. You can do this — and I’ll be proud to help. I’ll be utilizing a variety of resources including recordings, shareable worksheets, and personalized practice assignments. If the student is comfortable, I’ll also suggest apps for note identification, ear training, call-and-response playing, violin tuning, and more. As both an artist and teacher, I’m observant, intuitive, and quick to adapt. Wherever your path leads, your dream of making music will be nurtured, and I’ll be proud to help you along the way!
