Franzelle Hope - Get to know your vocal coach
Hi! I’m a 5th-year Music Education student at the Conservatory of Music, majoring in Piano with a minor in Voice. I’ve been teaching music since 8th grade and am currently completing my OJT. While piano is my main instrument, I have a strong passion for teaching voice—especially in Broadway, classical, folk, and pop styles. I teach kids, teens, and adults, from beginners to intermediate vocalists. I’m an active choir member in both school and church, have conducted various choirs, and joined several choral and vocal competitions. I focus on healthy vocal technique, confidence, and expressive performance. My lessons are fun, personalized, and goal-oriented. Whether you're exploring your voice for the first time or preparing for the stage, I’d love to help you grow, shine, and enjoy the exciting journey through music and self-expression.

Chloe received a vocal lesson from Franzelle, where they focused on vocal techniques, intonation, and music theory. The instruction included practical application through solfège exercises and Kodály hand signs. Chloe dedicated time to practicing scales and sight-reading. For her homework, Chloe needs to print pages 7-10 of the Danhouser solfège book, practice the exercises, memorize the Kodály hand signs, and prepare a pop song for their next lesson.

During a recent music lesson, Franzelle guided Graham through the intricacies of major and minor chords, sharps, flats, and the circle of fifths. Graham actively practiced major chords across several keys, including C, G, D, A, E, and B, as well as flat major chords in F, B flat, and E flat. For his upcoming practice, Graham was assigned to work on G clef, major chords, arpeggios, and staccato, in addition to memorizing the notes on the piano.

Franzelle introduced basic music theory, including definitions of music, piano vs. keyboard, musical staff, clefs, pitch, chords, and scales. The learner, who resides in the All Saints District, practiced playing C, G, and D chords and began learning the C major scale with correct fingerings. For homework, they were assigned to practice drawing clefs, identifying solfa syllables, and memorizing major chords, with a follow-up lesson scheduled for next Tuesday.
