Nick J - Know your guitar teacher
Hi, I’m Nick J Harvey – a solo artist, songwriter, and passionate guitar tutor with over 25 years of experience playing, performing, and recording music. I teach electric guitar, acoustic guitar, and bass, helping students of all levels unlock their potential. My lessons are built around what I call the triangle of musicianship – melody, rhythm, and harmony. By strengthening these three elements, students develop not only technical skills but also the confidence and creativity to express themselves through music. Over the years, I’ve honed my music craft blending traditional techniques with modern approaches to keep lessons engaging and effective. Outside of teaching, I work as a recording artist and producer in my own studio. This hands-on experience allows me to share real-world insights into tone shaping, arrangement, and recording techniques – skills that can take your playing beyond the practice room. As a tutor, I focus on: • Building strong fundamentals – from rhythm, timing, and fretboard knowledge to picking techniques. • Developing your own sound – helping students explore tone, expression, and improvisation. • Playing with confidence – whether you’re jamming with friends, recording at home, or hitting the stage. • Tailored learning – lessons are shaped around your goals, whether that’s learning your favorite songs, diving into theory, or writing original music. • Home Studio Recording/Tech Whether you want to master the basics, explore improvisation, or refine your own style, I’ll create lessons tailored to your goals. Music should be fun, inspiring, and something you connect with deeply every time you play. 🎸 Ready to take your playing to the next level? Let’s make music happen – book your first lesson today!

Teaching Methodology My teaching approach is designed to make learning guitar clear, engaging, and achievable for every student. I believe that anyone can play well when the fundamentals are broken down into simple, digestible steps. I focus on the triangle of musicianship – melody, rhythm, and harmony – using this as a framework to develop a strong foundation. Each lesson connects these elements so students understand not just what to play, but why it works. This helps them move from copying songs to truly understanding music and creating their own sound. Here’s how I make learning understandable: • Step-by-step progression – I simplify complex techniques into manageable chunks, so you see progress every week. • Real-world application – We work on songs and styles you love, linking theory directly to playing. • Visual and auditory learning – I use diagrams, recordings, and demonstrations to cater to different learning styles. • Studio integration – For those interested, I introduce recording techniques, tone shaping, and performance tips from my own studio work. • Personalized feedback – Every student gets tailored advice to overcome challenges and build on strengths. By combining structured learning with creativity, I ensure lessons stay motivating and results-focused. Whether you’re a beginner or advanced player, my goal is to make the guitar something you truly connect with and enjoy.
