As a passionate and goal-oriented tutor, I successfully assisted middle school and high school students in a variety of math subjects ( pre-algebra, Algebra I and II, Geometry, Pre-Calculus, Calculus AB and BC, Trigonometry) for the past 5 years. By creating an interactive and engaging learning environment along with personalized teaching plans, I am dedicated to improve the learning efficiency to boost test scores. My students are able to get “A” (90+) on final exams. Some students were skipped on level math course and advanced to next grade- level class via CBE (credit by exam) after being tutored during Spring or early summer. In addition, I tutored SAT test-prep (reading, writing and math) during past two years with deep understanding of SAT test strategies and different types of questions. I hold a PhD in Chemical Engineering from Texas Tech University, where I also worked as a teaching assistant to grade homework and set weekly Q&A sessions for undergraduates. In addition to my technical skills, my patience, responsibility, and interpersonal skills have been as important as my knowledge in motivating students to strive for their academic goals. I am enthusiastic about the opportunity to bring my expertise and passion to young students and help them excel in academic performance so that they can prepare well to their dream colleges.

Class overview
I believe each student is unique. By establishing personalized lesson plans based on the individual student's performance, I was able to help students to achieve academic goals more efficiently. By focusing on practice drills, confidence-building, and fostering inspiring learning environment, the students are able to master the learned concepts and build the solid foundation as well as being prepared for challenging problems during the school exams. I like to apply interactive teaching approach to keep the student engaged in the class. In addition, I would assign the appropriate amount and level of homework to reinforce their undrstanding. I would make myself available for questions between classes and monitor students' homework and progress. More importantly, effective communication with students are also important to maximize learning effieicy and reduce test anxiety.

Mathematics concept taught by Q
Snow Q taught Skyler how to convert percentages to decimals and how to calculate the percentage of a number. Skyler practiced converting various percentages to decimal form and worked through multiplication problems involving decimals. There was no homework assigned, but Snow Q had to reschedule future classes due to a family emergency.

Snow Q. and Emily Caldera reviewed function transformations, piecewise functions, difference quotients, and composite functions. Emily practiced graphing various functions and computing difference quotients for linear functions. The session included practice problems to reinforce these concepts, and Emily was given additional problems to work on.

Vertical Function Stretch/Shrink
Piecewise Functions
Difference Quotient
Composite Functions
Snow Q tutored an individual, a student at Indiana University-Purdue University Indianapolis (IUPUI), on transformations of absolute value functions, domain and range of functions and their inverses, and solving word problems related to volume and area. The learner practiced applying these concepts to problems from a practice exam. They scheduled another lesson for the following day to continue working on word problems.

Snow Q tutored Skylar on division, including multi-digit problems and word problems requiring multiple steps. Skylar practiced setting up and solving division problems, including those with remainders and zero placeholders. Skylar was assigned problems 12 and 13 to complete independently.
Long Division with Two-Digit Divisors
Handling Zeros in Division
Multi-Step Word Problems
Multi-Digit Multiplication
Snow Q tutored a student from Houston on the definition of derivatives, focusing on calculating derivatives using limits and understanding the relationship between the sign of the first derivative and whether a function is increasing or decreasing. The learner practiced finding derivatives using the limit definition and determining intervals of increasing and decreasing behavior. They worked through several examples from their worksheet during the lesson.

Increasing/Decreasing Functions
Snow Q assisted Andria with application of differentiation, focusing on related rates problems, including fuel consumption and geometric scenarios. Andria practiced translating word problems into mathematical equations and using implicit differentiation. Snow Q assigned AP test-style problems for the next session, focusing on chapters one through three.
