About your yoga instructor
Hi! I’m Jessica, and I’ve been actively practicing yoga for a decade. I was inspired anew by applying yoga as a tool for recovery from trauma, substance use, and mental health disorders. I was formerly certified in NYS as a mental health and substance use recovery advocate where I worked side by side with people in various stages of use or recovery. I truly believe any “body” can “do” yoga, and worked hard to obtain my 200 (hours) RYT so that I could bring yoga to others. Safe physical practice is my priority, and allowing space for people to find where they can grow physically and mentally is my goal. I work best with people one on one, as I believe a yoga practice is as unique as the individual experiencing it. I would like time to discuss physical challenges or issues one may have, what one has experienced with yoga in general, and what each individual’s goals are for themselves, not just with yoga but with their lives overall.
Jessica graduated from Bay Path University

Yoga classes overview
In my yoga classes, I focus on creating a relaxing and engaging space to learn and grow. I am trauma informed and person centered. As a part of the LGBTQ+ community, I welcome all. I believe in inclusivity and breaking down the stigma that comes with seeking recovery from mental illness and/or substance use. My goal for inclusivity is also for other disabilities. I have experience in personal and professional life with autism spectrum (ASD) and other cognitive disorders. I love to focus on a few poses an individual likes or is interested in and give guidance to see people go further. I am about the process and discovery of what the body can learn and advance in, and not what one “should look like” in a pose. I think a pose should fit where the body is at, and not forcing a body into a pose. I’m a more talkative instructor, which lends itself well to an online format. I look for cues that make sense to each individual. Some humor and fun is key for me!
