Ahlyssa - Get to know your vocal coach

Hello! My name is Ahlyssa and I am a classically trained opera singer with professional experience in Operas and Musicals! When I'm not performing in a show, I love to teach music! I have been teaching 1 to 1 and group lessons in person and online for about 8 years! My goal in lessons is to foster your love of music and improve your technique, explore musicality, and grow your confidence in singing to perform and share your love of music too! Music is a language that anyone can understand and the ability to share it is very special. In lessons, we aim to improve our abilities, but also to have fun doing it! I am very energized and enthuiastic when it comes to singing, or music in general! With my background in classical singing, and my performing experience in multiple genres, I am able to teach a vast range of repertoire. As a working performer, I am constantly learning new songs and techinques in my own practice. I look forward to meeting you and sharing a love of singing together!

Singing lessons highlights

My goal in lessons is to foster your love of music. Through learning techinques, new songs, and educational games (for children of course), my intention in lessons is to help you make progress and grow your love of music. Whether you're a hobbyist or professional, I can give you the guidance and teaching required to help you reach your goal. You can expect to work on vocal warm ups, musical technical exercises and selected repertoire (whether by you or suggested by me) in your lesson. I always do my best to share sheet music, lyric sheets, or backingtracks during lessons so that we are both prepared to work our hardest. I hope my skills honed in practical studies like my bachelors and masters degree, but also my professional experience performing in staged shows and concents will allow me to help you hone your own skills and achieve your musical goals!

The student and tutor reviewed vocal warm-ups, including lip trills and arpeggio exercises, while troubleshooting technical difficulties. They then delved into music theory by analyzing and singing arpeggios, practicing note identification and reading in the treble clef. Repertoire work focused on refining two songs, "Popular" and "Watch What Happens," with assigned homework to develop character and practice challenging vocal passages.
