Robbie - Get to know your vocal coach

HELLO! My name is Robbie and I’m an experienced vocal tutor from Aberdeen Scotland, living in London. I hold a BA Hons from Arts Educational Schools London in Musical Theatre as well as a diploma from Trinity College London. My aim is to elevate peoples confidence in the subject of singing by broadening their vocal horizons with the examination and application of vocal techniques, musical dynamics and styles. My tutoring style will be tailored to each individual and their wants and needs. I have been singing since my first performance on stage at 5 years old and it’s something I’m passionate about today; last year I was the first actor singer to perform at the United Nations General Assembly and was delighted to make my Broadway Debut in Lifeline the musical. My career has also had the chance to flourish here in the UK and have had the chance to perform in reputable theatres such as the Lyceum Edinburgh and Chester Storyhouse. I hope to spread the joy singing gives people around the world!

Singing lessons highlights

My lessons will be tailored around the students wants and needs but will take a similarly style and form overall. We will start each session with a gentle warm up, it’s important to let the voice warm up gradually instead of head straight into a power ballad! Then we will set out our focus of today; this could be any musical concept or vocal technique such as vibrato, crescendo, belt, riffing and after this we will look at how to apply aforementioned techniques to a song. It’s important to me that we are focussing on a genre and style of music that resonates with the student (eg i wouldn’t give a musical theatre style student a Guns’n’roses song) so this means that each student will have a song they will be working on. The first part of the lesson will be about techniques and section part will be focussed on how we can apply them to the song. Each week will be something new. Eventually we will turn our attention to a new song, spending around 2-4 sessions on each one. Across our lessons, students will build up a repertoire of songs they can comfortably and confidently sing.
