About your tutor
My name is Steven and I am a UC Irvine college graduate with a double major in Mechanical Engineering and Sociology with a minor in management. Math has always been my favorite subject and comes naturally to me. I represented my middle school in the state MathCounts competition. I had a 750 on math for my SATs and a 5 on AP Calculus BC. I got a 4.05 GPA at Lowell High School. I was a teacher/tutor for Think Tank Learning for three years. I have been providing private tutoring for over ten years. I would like to use my skills to make math more manageable for others. If you or someone you know could use some extra help in math, either for classes or for SAT preparation, go ahead and message me so we can schedule a time. I tutor online through Google Meet with Miro virtual whiteboard. Math should be a fun puzzle that is challenging and satisfying. Let's conquer Math together.

Class overview
My main approach in teaching math is allowing my students to see what I see. Math is less so about rote memorization of terms and formulas, and moreso a logical progression from start to finish. Every step is the cause to the suceeding step's effect. Rather than simply solving a problem for my student to copy and memorize, I provide clues to help the student see that the next step is the correct one by inductive and deductive processes. To make learning engaging, I use online resources to support each lesson. I use a very intuitive collaborative whiteboard, and pull slides and formulas from throughout the internet to help students see the grand scheme. I use online graphing websites for students to visualize the formulas and their significance. I also use AI tools to help assist in alternative approaches as this may provide additional insight into each concept or practice example.
