Jeffrey - Get to know your vocal coach
I’m Jeffrey Canlas, a passionate vocal tutor and educator with over a decade of experience helping aspiring singers find their voice and perform with soul. With a Master’s in English Education and a deep love for music, I blend technique, expression, and confidence-building in every session. My approach is grounded in storytelling, shaped by years of teaching, voice acting, and music analysis. For me, it’s not just about hitting the right notes; it’s about owning your sound, showing up with heart, and becoming an artist who truly connects. As an artist myself, I'd like to share authenticity, a knack for connection, and precision in vocal projection, be it at the beginning of your musical journey as a singer or songwriter, even. Let's help you achieve your fullest potential and bring that vocal prowess to life, to the rest of the world.

Singing lessons highlights
My teaching style blends structure, intuition, and heart. I don’t just train voices—I guide artists. Every session is a space where technique meets emotion, and where growth is both encouraged and celebrated. I break things down clearly, but I also push you to dig deeper—to feel, connect, and perform with truth. I adapt to your pace, honor your uniqueness, and help you turn every note into a moment of meaning. I teach with empathy, energy, and high standards because your voice deserves to be heard, not just accurately, but powerfully and authentically. Whether you’re just starting or already performing, I create a safe, creative space where your vocal potential is refined, your confidence is rebuilt, and your artistic identity is embraced. We work hard, but we also enjoy the process, because the journey of finding your voice should feel as fulfilling as the destination.

Jeffrey provided vocal coaching to Kobe for his upcoming audition, concentrating on essential techniques such as breathing exercises, tonality, and deeply connecting with the song's emotional intent. During their lesson, Kobe diligently worked on "A Million Dreams," applying these methods to enhance his vocal projection and sustain notes effectively. Separately, Jeffrey assigned himself the task of editing the song to meet the audition's time constraints, and he enlisted Michael to locate a reference solo performance for potential arrangement ideas.

Jeffrey led Peter through a vocal lesson, focusing on warm-up exercises such as humming, vowel sounds, and lip rolls to enhance breath support and resonance. Peter practiced finding his baseline vocal sound by relaxing his vocal cords and concentrating on nasal resonance, then applied these techniques to the song "My oh my, oh my Seattle." Jeffrey assigned Peter to practice a five-minute vocal warm-up video and compare his progress over three days.
