About your piano teacher

Hi, I’m Ireneo Orio III, an award-winning composer and dedicated music educator with a B.M. in Composition from the University of the Philippines, Diliman. For the past three years, as the Director of Orio School of Music, I’ve been passionately teaching piano to students of all ages and skill levels, helping them develop technical proficiency, musical expression, and a deep appreciation for music. My lessons cover everything from classical repertoire by composers like Bach and Beethoven to modern styles, focusing on skills like sight-reading, chord progressions, and improvisation. Drawing from my experience as a composer and performer, I create a supportive and engaging learning environment tailored to each student’s unique goals, whether they’re beginners or advanced players. My accolades, including the NCCA Composer’s Prize in 2013, reflect my commitment to musical excellence, which I share to inspire my students. Let’s make music together!

Piano lessons overview

I believe sight-reading is the gateway to musical independence, enabling students to explore new pieces with confidence and efficiency. To develop this skill, I incorporate structured sight-reading exercises into every lesson, starting with simple melodies for beginners and progressing to complex, multi-voiced compositions for advanced students. I use a variety of methods, such as interval recognition, rhythm drills, and progressive repertoire, to build fluency in reading sheet music. My students practice sight-reading across genres, from classical works by composers like Bach and Mozart to contemporary pieces, ensuring versatility and engagement. My teaching is hands-on and supportive, creating a space where students feel encouraged to experiment and grow. I provide personalized feedback, using techniques like modeling and guided practice to refine their skills.
