Singing lessons highlights

My coaching is personalised and intuitive and I genuinely believe that everyone is unique with their singing ability as their own finger print. Rather than replicating someone else, I encourage my students to discover and understand their own singing voice, to then make any song unique to them. Having coached a number of students throughout the years, I strive to make learning enjoyable in the moment and beyond, guiding learners to discover and enhance their singing abilities with passion and skill. This process unfolds with weekly sessions and practice outside of the sessions based on the advice and guidance provided during the sessions. We will commence each session with some exercises and work with my feedback at the end of every session. As long as you are committed to learning and growing, I am here to support you through it!

The following is a summary of a lesson. Mi Ka guided an individual from El Paso through vocal exercises focusing on tongue flexibility, breath control, and G scale practice. The learner worked on holding the tongue in the correct position, practicing the ujjayi breath, and warming up with lower notes before attempting higher octaves. Mi Ka assigned them to practice lower notes, G note exercises with an open jaw, and to focus on 'who' vowel sounds, while avoiding 'he' on higher octaves to prevent strain.

Mi Ka led John through vocal exercises, including body and breath work, the 'H' exercise for vocal space, and humming scales, to improve his breath control and vocal steadiness. Following the warm-ups, John practiced singing 'Shallow'. For the next two weeks, John is assigned to focus on practicing lower notes with 'ha' and continuing his humming exercises.

Mi Ka and Atarah focused on vocal exercises during their lesson, covering breath control, body warm-ups, and techniques such as lip trills and scales. Atarah specifically practiced diaphragmatic breathing and vowel sounds to improve her vocal cord tuning. Mi Ka recommended that Atarah listen to the scale recording and maintain consistent practice, even in short daily lessons, and offered to analyze a song Atarah was struggling with.

Mi Ka led a vocal lesson with John, focusing on a range of exercises designed to enhance his singing abilities. These included breathing techniques, dynamic humming, and lip trills. John then applied these skills while working on the song "Shallow," specifically targeting pitch accuracy and phrasing. His assignment for the week is to continue practicing the vocal exercises and immerse himself in "Shallow" to fully grasp its melody and lyrics.

Mi Ka guided the learner, who makes their home in Fossil Creek, through vocal exercises focusing on breath control, humming, lip trills, and scales to improve vocal technique and range. The individual practiced holding lower notes to support higher notes and was introduced to acapella singing. Mi Ka assigned them to practice the exercises, explore karaoke songs in their range, and listen to "Somewhere Over the Rainbow" and "My Heart Will Go On," with a focus on understanding the lyrics and emotions.
