About your french tutor

I'm a friendly, conscientious and student-led French Tutor with over 20 years' experience and a passion for teaching. I offer individualised sessions, tailored to each student's needs and I use a wide range of resource materials to engage their interests and increase their skills. I specialise in GCSE and A level French in addition to teaching adults and complete beginners. I enjoy helping with all aspects of French: grammar, pronunciation, speaking, listening, reading and writing, introducing aspects of French culture and helping students understand how the language is evolving. I recommend useful social media accounts for students to follow to increase their comprehension of 'modern' French whilst making sure their grasp of the basics gives them the best foundation on which to build their confidence and knowledge. Join me to see how we get on together!

French classes at a glance

How I teach depends on the individual requirements of each student. If I'm following a strict GCSE or A level curriculum, I will use a range of online resources to illustrate grammatical points, listen along to native speakers to improve pronunciation and understanding, and ensure the students are fully across everything they need to pass their examinations. If my student is a complete beginner, I will use my experience and knowledge to cover the basics, increase their confidence and build strong foundations of understanding before moving on to more complex aspects of grammar. Regular assessments of understanding are an important part of my teaching method and they help me gauge how a student is doing so I can focus on any weaknesses and improve their skills in these areas. I ask a lot of questions to ensure students are taking on board the content of the lessons and always give constructive feedback.
