About your guitar teacher
Hiya! I'm Arthur, a 22 year old guitarist born in the UK, raised in New Zealand, and has now found himself abroad in the USA post-degree. I have been playing guitar for nearly 15 years, and have experience performing at festivals, at schools, in musical theatre, in bars, venues and the big stages too. Before I left to study at the esteemed Berklee College of Music, I began teaching beginner guitar lessons throughout my hometown, and have been helping people step their foot into the world of guitar and music ever since. I think that music has a place in everyones heart, and I admire the differences in taste and genre that I discover in every new person I meet. Having played for so long, my list of influences has grown to unimaginable proportions, and I like to think that I can play and adapt to any style, any time. My lessons are flexible - I want my students to essentially lead, as I focus on specific things they want to learn. This can be anything from specific tunes, to learning theory around the guitar neck, to mastering techniques in order to play anything they want. More than anything, I hope that my lessons are fun, and that I can be someone fun to talk and jam with. Cheers!

Guitar lessons overview
My preferred tools for teaching come from my DAW, and from having my hands on the instrument be on show the whole time. I believe that whilst chord charts, tabs, and musical notation definitely have their place in learning the guitar, mastering your ear and your visual learning is, in the long term, the most crucial skill you can have. I will however, cater to all levels, and provide all the materials necessary for them to push themselves forward and progress to their goals! In the past, I have provided scale charts in tab, and on fingerboard diagrams, and have helped my students memorise the different intervals on the fingerboard and give them the knowledge to apply this new knowledge practically. Just like working out at the gym, it is salient to never neglect the basics, as they provide a concrete foundation to everything else you will learn as you go. Even the pros still apply this rudimentary knowledge. All good things come with time, so with patience and a bit of discipline, anyone can play anything!
