About your guitar teacher

Hey! My name is Peat and I live in New York City. My band has been around for over 15 years. We score horror films and have been the house band to a Broadway show since 2016. I've been teaching bass and guitar since moving to the city in 2007. My approach is unique and every student has a different plan. We learn what you want to play at your pace. We're going to delve into different techniques, genres of music and learn to think critically about the instrument, as opposed to just running drills and regurgitating standards. We will learn how to tune and tab out songs by ear for times you don't have the internet handy. Then we will utilize those tools sparingly to help you be a better player. We'll also be doing performance lessons for if and when you join a band. Touring, songwriting and social media for project is just as important as the rest. Either way, it should be challenging and fun.

Guitar lessons overview

Depending on your starting level, we will start small and grow gradually. These lessons will be fun but also challenging and you keep layering on difficulty. The songs and techniques will gradually increase in intensity and speed. We'll stack techniques with a growing repertoire of songs to help build your vocabulary. Then we will work with pedals, including a looper so you can start to understand timing and improvisation. I will use years of experience to guide and point you in a direction of success. But make no mistake, everyone is different and there is no clear path to success. Whether you want to just be a bedroom musician or you want to create content on the road, there is no guarantee on a certain path. It takes dedication and practice with a huge helping of luck. If you're passionate about trying your best, I'll be there to guide and learn from each other.
