About your guitar teacher
I have been playing & creating music now for over half of my life. If half of a lifetime, 12+ albums/EPs of original music (both solo and in bands); hundreds of songs played at hundreds of shows and in dozens of places has taught me one thing, it's this: "We don't serious music, we play music." (which I heard said live by Jason Mraz at his Hollywood Bowl show on October 5th, 2012 - thanks for pulling that verbal arrow out of the proverbial quiver). Which is why as a guitar teacher, my main goal is to do everything within my power to introduce you to the world of this amazing instrument and NEVER kill your enthusiasm for wanting to play it. I will NOT take that away from you; I will only enhance it. You WILL learn how to play guitar in the ways that you've dreamed of from me. End of story. I don't make you buy random books of chords or scales and I don't assign or demand you ever to do any specific kind of homework. I teach by learning SONGS - the songs that YOU want to learn. The ones that WHEN you actually experience what it feels like in your own body and being to play, you lose your sh-... mind. Any age and any level of playing experience is welcome. As of this moment, of the students that I get to teach in person, my youngest is 5 and my oldest is 70. Music is for everybody. While the things within music that move us may all be very different, they move us all in equally profound ways. You WILL learn how to play Guitar, in the exact ways that you are wanting and dreaming of. YOU are our curriculum. Now, think of 2-3 songs that if you were to experience yourself actually playing on guitar, you would LOSE YOUR SH-...MIND. Then book a lesson with me and let's get going. I'm waiting on You, here. .

Guitar lessons overview
It's pretty simple: I start by having a good ol' chit-chat with you where I get a lay of the land from ya in regards to what you are personally wanting to do and where you are wanting to go with this instrument. It doesn't matter if you don't know the guitar from a butter knife, or if you are a trained professional; I teach it all and am ready to go with You (and by "it all," I mean everything aside of really deep jazz playing and jazz theory; sorry fellas - someone else on here will be better for that. I mean, look at me - do I REALLY scream out Jazz to you?). Anyways, from that initial conversation, I respond accordingly with getting you immediately on the path to greatness that you're looking for. I cannot say general bullet-point things in answering this question because I do not follow any pre-conceived curriculum. Every student's curriculum is specifically and solely designed based on YOU and what you are looking for. We're going to have fun and lots of it. Buckle up, Buttercup - you're on your way to greatness.

Guitar concept taught by Jamie
During a recent guitar lesson, Jamie Cunningham worked with Jaime Mogrovejo on fundamental left-hand techniques, exploring chord shapes such as D, G, B minor, and A, alongside various strumming patterns. Jamie provided valuable feedback and introduced new approaches, emphasizing the importance of relaxation, experimentation, and finding joy in the learning journey for Jaime. They concluded the lesson by scheduling their next one, and Jamie Cunningham reiterated his ongoing support.

Strumming Patterns
Jamie Cunningham taught Jaime Mogrovejo the basics of guitar playing, including tuning, reading tabs, and forming the B minor, G, and D chords. Jaime practiced finger placements for these chords and began learning the first verse of "Iris." Jamie will send a refined document of the lesson notes and they plan to continue working on these chords, introduce strumming, and explore "The Unforgiven" in the next session.
