Piano lessons overview

In my personalized tutoring approach, I seamlessly integrate music theory, musicality, technique, ear training, and sight reading into lessons that are interactive. Specializing in teaching a variety of piano playing, I cater to beginners and intermediate level students whether they be adults or kids. I adjust my curriculum to what the student needs. My strength lies in providing tailored lessons that nurture a deep understanding of music while fostering a love for playing the piano, ensuring that each student reaches their full potential. I believe that piano playing is best taught one-on-one, in order to focus on skills needed to be practiced. I also consider practice in the student's personal time to be a very crucial part in studying music, as it builds discipline and makes the lessons easier to understand, which is why I encourage every student of mine to have their own personal piano or keyboard at home.

Eugene worked with Kloe on refining her piano abilities, concentrating on a minuette in G and incorporating scales and arpeggios as warm-up exercises. Kloe dedicated time to specific challenging sections of the piece, addressing issues with coordination and finger placement. Her homework involves practicing the G major and C major scales and continuing to polish the minuette, emphasizing separate hand practice and slow, coordinated playing.

Eugene tutored Raji in piano, concentrating on rhythm and timing exercises from pages 19, 20, 21, and 23 of her book. During the lesson, Raji worked on note durations and beat allocation, and was also introduced to playing chords. They utilized voice recording on Raji's iPhone as a tool for practice and self-correction. Before their next lesson in two weeks, Eugene assigned pages 19, 21, and 23 for her to practice.

During a piano lesson, Eugene worked with a student from Preston Hollow on a piano piece. The focus was on correcting the student's tendency to play F naturals instead of F sharps and improving their left-hand fingering technique, especially in bars 13-16. They practiced hands separately and together, breaking down difficult sections. The learner was assigned to practice measures 1-16, mastering the left hand before combining it with the right, with another lesson scheduled for the following Friday.
