Piano lessons at a glance
In my personalized tutoring approach, I seamlessly integrate music theory, musicality, technique, ear training, and sight reading into lessons that are interactive. Specializing in teaching a variety of piano playing, I cater to beginners and intermediate level students whether they be adults or kids. I adjust my curriculum to what the student needs. My strength lies in providing tailored lessons that nurture a deep understanding of music while fostering a love for playing the piano, ensuring that each student reaches their full potential. I believe that piano playing is best taught one-on-one, in order to focus on skills needed to be practiced. I also consider practice in the student's personal time to be a very crucial part in studying music, as it builds discipline and makes the lessons easier to understand, which is why I encourage every student of mine to have their own personal piano or keyboard at home.

Piano concept taught by Eugene Paul
During their recent music lesson, Eugene and Evan went over musical exercises, and new concepts like ties, note values, and staff positions for G and F were introduced. Evan dedicated his practice time to pieces from the John Thompson book, concentrating on rhythm, counting, and achieving smooth transitions. His assignment for the upcoming lesson includes studying pages 4, 5, and 6 from group two.

Eugene and C L worked on piano exercises from "The Journey" and a canon, focusing on tempo, rhythm, and finger placement. C L practiced specific measures of the canon to improve smoothness and continuity, and was assigned to practice measures 21-36, focusing on playing four measures straight. The next lesson is scheduled for Thursday, and C L will be away for a month starting October 20th.

Eugene worked with a piano student, a resident of College Station, focusing on scales, Hannon exercises, and sight-reading an Adul piece. The learner practiced improving tempo consistency in scales, hand coordination in exercises, and sight-reading skills. Eugene assigned the second page of the exercise book as homework and instructed them to polish specific sections of the Adul piece.

Eugene and C L worked on improving C L's timing and rhythm in the piano pieces "Journey" and "Canon." C L practiced counting and maintaining a consistent tempo, with Eugene providing corrections and guidance. C L was assigned to practice "Journey" slowly, focusing on accurate counting, and to work on specific measures of "Canon" (13 and 21), prioritizing measure 21 for smooth, continuous play.

In a recent piano lesson, Eugene and Kloe dedicated time to various exercises, including scales, "A Dozen a Day," and Hannon, with a strong emphasis on rhythm, finger coordination, and speed. Kloe also performed a minuet, receiving specific feedback on maintaining consistent tempo and rhythmic accuracy. For her practice, Kloe was assigned to study exercises 1-3 from group two in "A Dozen a Day" and to continue refining the Hannon exercises and the minuet.

Eugene and Raji recently dedicated their piano practice to exercises from "A Dozen a Day," aiming to enhance their articulation and hand coordination. Their work also included pieces from their main book, where they learned the note F and practiced hand switching. For the upcoming two weeks, Raji is tasked with completing exercises from "A Dozen a Day" (up to exercise six, potentially eight) and pages 24, 27, 28, and 29 from the main book. Eugene will share a recording link for the book.
