Brian - Get to know your vocal coach
Hello! My name is Brian Pelletier, but most of my students call me Mr. P, or more fondly, Mr. Pelican. I am 24 years old and have been studying singing, music and the voice since I was 8 years old. I live in Maine and have been advancing my craft for many, many years. My teaching style is very student centered. You will tell me what you want to learn, what you have done, and what you plan to achieve. I have a broad skill-set of tools and knowledge to meet your goals and set you forward. My disciplines vary from pop-rock, contemporary, country, jazz, opera, indie, and Italian to name a few. My curriculum is based heavily around vocal health, body-voice connectivity, and building confidence in your singing voice. In my lessons I use anatomically correct language and will really emphasize how your body interacts with your voice. I teach from very beginners with troubled pitch, to advanced singers looking to complete Aria's, riffs, and other advanced practices. As a singer everyone can always work on their craft. Nobody is perfect and everyone can learn. You will gain confidence under my instruction, but also realize that there are so many tools in the world that can advance your career as a singer. I look forward to teaching you, and seeing you grow!

Singing lessons highlights
My teaching methodology is very student based. I will begin with an intro to see how your voice works. We will sing scales, practice solfège, go through rhythms, and progress from there. Beginners with little experience we will start with pitch matching exercises, lots of call and repeat, sight reading for singers, and note identification. As the singer progresses, we will start working on how the voice works, where to place sound, how to round your sound, how to move between the different sections of your voice, blending the upper register and lower register, breath control, air pressure, vocal stamina, anchoring, projection, belting, and many more parts of singing (and speaking.) We will also work stylistically, and when to use the above methods for which type of music. For example, if you are singing Opera you will have thin folds, forward sound that is placed in your nasopharynx, projected forward with high air pressure, while having deep anchoring to get a rich "chest" sound without hurting your vocal folds.
