About your guitar teacher

I am currently in my final year of music studies, at Leeds Conservatoire. The 3 year BA course included practical and theoretical elements, including a teaching module which I particularly enjoyed and excelled at. Conservatoire education has allowed me to build on my previous experience, and accumulate a good knowledge of the theoretical foundations of music, as well as their practical implementation. I’m an active and regular practitioner both in live and studio settings and play regularly around the Leeds circuit. I am more than happy to teach beginners and more advanced players. Around the clock, I am available to be contacted if my students should need support, and I always plan teaching materials in advance, so that lessons are efficient and the best they can be. Students are more than welcome to lead the way throughout our lessons, and I actively encourage them to bring in songs/styles to learn.

Guitar lessons overview

Initially, I focus on technique with my students; building the foundations upon which we can learn more advanced techniques. For example, hand positions, learning simple scales, and of course simple songs that the student has an interest in. After each lesson, I will provide a "write-up" which contains exercises that we went through in our lesson, and what to focus on when practicing. I believe that a good teacher should be there for students at all times, and I encourage students to get in touch with me whenever they are confused, or not sure why something isn't sounding as good as it could. I would recommend at least one hour per week for lessons, as this is enough time and frequency for the teaching to be advantageous, although this is completely up to the student. I aim to adapt lessons and my teaching style to fit the needs of my students.
