About your guitar teacher

With more than 10 years experience, and a background in education, I am passionate about supporting you as you learn to play the guitar. Playing music from a range of styles, you will learn to read music and develop control over the sound you make. As a teacher, my approach is student-centred, with patience and flexibility. I have taught all ages, from 7 to 70, and helped students play for enjoyment and pleasure as well as achieve strong results in exams. I love sharing the joy of music, and often play duets with my students to build confidence and musicality. I began playing music when I was 7 years old, learning the piano, French horn, and classical guitar, and later gaining musical experience playing in orchestras and ensembles, before studying music at university, learning about theory, composition, and music technology. I have worked in primary schools sharing my enthusiasm for music, and have completed a PG Cert. in education. I love playing and teaching the classical guitar. The range of styles available, from Elizabethan, Baroque and Classical music, to modern styles such as blues, jazz, and latin, mean there is always something new to learn, and every student has their own different unique journey!

Guitar lessons overview

My teaching approach is student-centred, with personalised lessons combining sight reading and technique with style, expression and musicality. I cater to students interested in any level of Classical Guitar, such as beginners and children just starting out, adults returning to the guitar, students wanting to develop technique and style or prepare for an exam, or anyone thinking of taking up a new hobby. By following a flexible, adaptive curriculum built on a range of styles, I provide empathetic guidance, ensuring each student's musical journey is both enriching and enjoyable. My strength lies in creating lessons that help grow an understanding of music and musicality, whilst fostering a love for the instrument, making the Classical Guitar accessible to all learners. I look forward to sharing my passion with you as we learn together.
