My name is Emerson M. Calumpang, and I am a passionate voice instructor dedicated to helping individuals discover and develop the unique power of their own voices. I believe that singing is both an art and a skill—an expression of the soul and a discipline that can be honed with the right guidance, practice, and dedication. Throughout my career, I have learned that every student brings their own story, personality, and potential into the lesson space. My role is to help unlock that potential by combining technical expertise with encouragement, creativity, and a deep respect for the individuality of each learner. My journey in teaching voice began with my own love for music and performance. Over the years, I have been immersed in various aspects of music—from performing on stage to directing choirs and training individual singers. This experience has shaped my approach to teaching, which is rooted in patience, structure, and the belief that learning should be both challenging and enjoyable. I understand that students come with different motivations some want to pursue a professional career in music, while others simply wish to sing with more confidence in personal or community settings. Regardless of their goals, my mission is to give each learner the skills, knowledge, and mindset they need to grow as singers and as individuals.

Singing lessons highlights
I believe singing is both an art and a skill that can be developed by anyone with the passion to learn. Every voice is unique and must be nurtured with patience, discipline, and creativity. My teaching philosophy is to equip students with solid technical skills and the confidence to express themselves authentically. Each course begins with an initial voice assessment to determine a student’s range, tone quality, breathing, diction, and preferred genres. This diagnostic step helps me design a personalized plan that balances technical development with artistic growth, ensuring progress while keeping lessons enjoyable. A strong foundation starts with proper posture and diaphragmatic breathing, emphasizing alignment, body awareness, and techniques for sustaining notes, controlling airflow, and managing dynamics. These are reinforced with daily drills to prepare students for more advanced vocal challenges. Alongside this, I integrate ear training to strengthen pitch accuracy and musical memory through interval recognition, solfège, and pitch-matching activities. Once the basics are secure, we work on tone quality, resonance, and clarity of diction, using open throat techniques and a balanced blend of chest and head voice to avoid strain. Range expansion is approached gradually to protect vocal health while encouraging progress.
