About your spanish tutor
Hello! My name is Meghan, and I live in Los Angeles with my husband of 27 years and our two grandcats. We have two grown children and a 6-year-old granddaughter, and they are my whole heart! My native language is English, but I started speaking Spanish at the age of nine, when my father's job brought us to Guayaquil, Ecuador for 2 years. I've been obsessed with learning and education ever since I could first grasp a piece of chalk and scribble on my mom's Quartet chalkboard. In my free time, you'll find me outside! I love to hike, hang out by the ocean, and “play” in our vegetable plot. I believe learning happens best when students are at the center of their educational journey. I prioritize building genuine connections with each student. I'm naturally warm and approachable, often sharing stories that help us connect because real learning happens when you feel comfortable and understood. Whether you're struggling with Spanish concepts or looking to excel further, I'll meet you where you are and help you discover your path to success.

Spanish classes highlights
I believe learning happens best when students are at the center of their educational journey. As your Spanish tutor, I want to know what motivates YOU! I'll guide you through hands-on exploration and independent thinking, using the gradual release method - I "do" first (model), we "do" next (guided practice), and finally, you "do" (practice independently). My tutoring targets equally the four language domains: listening, reading, writing, and speaking. I focus on increasing vocabulary through vocabulary acquisition strategies that help words stick and become part of your active Spanish repertoire. I also love to employ role-playing using real-world scenarios to improve your listening and conversation skills—whether we're practicing ordering food at a restaurant, navigating travel situations, or having everyday conversations.
