Singing concept taught by Mia
During a recent vocal lesson, Mia guided Anne through warm-up exercises, emphasizing breath control techniques such as box breathing and staccato breathing. They also focused on shifting vocal resonance to the nasal cavity using 'twang' to prevent throat strain, with Anne specifically tasked to practice nasal resonance for homework, learning to differentiate it from throat-based singing.

During their vocal lesson, Mia and Beverly focused on breathing exercises, vocal warm-ups, and scales, specifically working on transitioning into head voice and lightening vocal tone. Beverly received instruction on utilizing a piano for scale practice and was assigned independent exercises. They arranged their next lesson for the same time in two weeks.

Mia led a vocal lesson with a student from Grogan's Mill, focusing on improving breath control, vocal registers, and head voice technique. The student practiced box breathing, staccato breathing, sirens, and scales with nasal resonance. Mia assigned sirens and C major scales for practice and scheduled their next lesson for September 17th, which will focus on breath control, nasalness, and confidence.

Mia Taylor recently guided Apoorva through a comprehensive vocal lesson, focusing on essential warm-ups, breath control exercises, and various scales. The emphasis was placed on fostering healthy vocal production and sharpening ear training skills. During the lesson, Apoorva actively engaged in box breathing, staccato breathing, and the 'one, one, two, one' exercise. For her homework, Mia assigned conscious practice, daily video recording and watchbacks, a specific focus on nasal resonance, and learning both C minor and C pentatonic scales. Additionally, Apoorva is to continue practicing the 'one, one, two, one' exercise, experimenting with varied clapping placements.

Box Breathing
Mia and Razia engaged in vocal exercises, including box and staccato breathing, to enhance breath control for singing. Razia specifically worked on three-note and five-note descending scales, focusing on soft slides to prevent singing from the throat. Mia recommended that Razia record her scale practice to improve her ear training and identify any ingrained melodic patterns, a key aspect of their work on vocal development.

Breath Control Techniques
Two students, who reside in Greensboro, practiced vocal warm-ups, breath control exercises, and articulation using tongue twisters and a pop song. They analyzed "Love Story" by Taylor Swift to identify optimal breathing points. Next week's lesson will focus on longer box breathing, breath control techniques, and scales, with a return to "Love Story" to assess progress.
