Chris - Know your guitar teacher
With over a decade of experience teaching guitar, I offer a flexible and engaging approach that supports students of all levels and backgrounds. My professional career has taken me across Australia and around the world, performing hundreds of shows in a diverse range of genres including jazz, blues, pop, reggae, country, metal, and rock. I’ve played everything from small acoustic gigs to large-scale festivals, worked in studio environments, and collaborated with artists across styles. These real-world experiences directly inform my lessons, helping students build strong technique, creative expression, and musical confidence. Whether you're just starting out or looking to refine advanced skills, I tailor each lesson to meet your goals.I have extensive experience teaching bands and managing artists' careers, providing guidance beyond individual lessons. I've taught students of all ages, from young children as young as 4 to adults over 60, tailoring my approach to suit each learner's needs and goals.

Guitar lessons quick guide
My teaching philosophy centers on creating an inspiring and supportive environment that motivates students to explore and enjoy music at their own pace. I incorporate a variety of learning styles—visual, auditory, and kinesthetic—to ensure lessons are effective and engaging for everyone. Technical proficiency is developed gradually through targeted exercises designed to improve finger strength, dexterity, and coordination. I introduce music theory concepts contextually, helping students understand how scales, chords, and progressions fit together, which enhances their ability to improvise and compose. I prioritize practical application by using songs that resonate with each student’s musical interests, making practice more enjoyable and meaningful. Regular performance opportunities, either solo or in groups, build confidence and prepare students for real-world playing situations. I also focus on developing good practice habits, time management, and self-motivation skills essential for long-term growth. For advanced players, I offer specialized techniques such as fingerstyle, alternate tunings, and advanced rhythmic patterns. Ultimately, my goal is to nurture well-rounded musicianship that combines technical ability with emotional expression, helping students become not only skilled guitarists but also passionate, lifelong musicians.
