Oscar - Know your guitar teacher
My name is Oscar Romero. I started playing acoustic guitar when I was 11 years old and quickly picked up a passion for the instrument. I played in many bands and churches during my teens and when I graduated high school I wanted to dedicate my life to music. I did a wonderful audio engineering program, and after working on audio for a while, I enrolled in a music university in Mexico City! I studied composition with guitar as my main instrument. I would love to teach beginners to try to be intermediate, and intermediate students to try to go advanced. I believe that one of the most powerful ways to become a better musician is finding something you are passionate about and practice that until it's mastered. I enjoy playing finger-style, playing the melody of the song while playing the bass line. I also enjoy deep-diving into advanced rhythmic parts. Let's jam together!

Guitar lessons quick guide
I am a very methodic instructor. My favorite approach when it comes to teaching is breaking down the end goal into different steps. I like to start with the least complicated step and work my way up to the harder steps. When I learn how to play a song in finger-style, I divide everything needed into different steps. Step number one for instance would be learning a simple chord progression. Then learning the melody. Finally add the two together to make rhythm, harmony and melody come together. I have found that breaking down the goal into simple steps is very efficient as it helps the student progress little by little while at the same time getting closer to the end goal. As far as which songs to learn, I believe we should always choose from songs that the student is passionate about as they will be easier to remember and more enjoyable to master. These are some of my strategies!
