Hi, I’m Navya Kapoor—a singing tutor with a Bachelor’s degree in music and over three years of teaching experience. I specialize in pop and rock vocals, and my lessons are tailored to each student’s voice, pace, and goals. I have a strong background in music theory and use Speech Level Singing (SLS) techniques to help students build vocal strength, flexibility, and confidence across their range. My teaching focuses on ear training, harmony, rhythm, musical expression, and performance skills. I work with learners of all ages and levels—from complete beginners to advanced singers—always aiming to create a space that’s encouraging, thoughtful, and fun. I’m also about to begin a Master of Music in Music Education at the University of Sydney, deepening my commitment to music teaching and learning. My teaching philosophy is rooted in the belief that every student has their own voice—literally and creatively—and my role is to help them discover, develop, and trust it. I approach each lesson with curiosity and care, tailoring the learning process to fit the student’s vocal strengths, musical goals, and pace of growth. Technique is essential, but it’s never the end goal. I focus on building strong foundations in vocal health, musicality, and expression, using Speech Level Singing (SLS) techniques and a solid grounding in music theory to support long-term, sustainable growth. I believe that learning music should be an empowering and enjoyable experience. That’s why I create a space where students feel comfortable making mistakes, asking questions, and taking creative risks. I encourage them to listen deeply—not just to music, but to themselves. Along the way, we explore everything from ear training and harmony to rhythm and performance presence, depending on what each student needs. I see teaching as a collaborative process. I’m not here to dictate a sound or path—I’m here to support the student’s exploration of their voice and identity as an artist. Whether someone is just starting out or refining their technique, I aim to meet them where they are and help them move forward with clarity, confidence, and joy.
