Music Lessons by University of Southampton Educator: Composition, Theory, Songwriting

Hello there! I'm Jack Petty, a musician with a degree in music from the University of Southampton and over 2 years of experience in music tutoring. I tailor my lessons to whatever level the student is at so whether you are an advanced learner or total beginner I am confident in helping you improve at whichever inquiry you come to me with. Music Composition, Songwriting, and Music Theory are my strongest area but I am also well-versed in Digital Audio Workstations and Mixing, and can teach Singing and Guitar Playing as well. Whatever genre you are interested in I can help you out. My background as a guitar player is multifaceted, I have performed in genres including but not limited to Country, Folk, Jazz, Rock, Blues, and Classical. I have also written music for various styles, including Video Games, Films, and Classical Pieces. I am sure that I will be able to help with whatever area of music you are interested in. Primarily I always want to involve the student as much as possible in my lessons as I believe this is the best way to help them internalise the content and begin the process of incorporating new information into their playing, performing, or writing. Though my Music Theory is a specialist area, I am able to teach without overwhelming students with detail if they do not wish for it as Singing especially only requires a small amount of context before practice. Any curriculum that I operate with will be flexible enough that a student should never feel I am forcing them into an area of study they do not feel the benefits of. I can cater to all levels of students as in an introductory session I would be able to gather their current level of familiarity with the topic and adjust accordingly. If the student does wish for more in depth explanations I am able and happy to oblidge.
