Singing concept taught by Zara
Zara taught Ashlie about vocal techniques, including lip trills, onset (clean, aspirate, and glottal), and dynamics. Ashlie practiced these techniques and began working on the song "One in a Million" by Aaliyah, focusing on breath control and vowel modification. Zara recommended Ashlie continue practicing lip trills and applying them to videos, as well as practicing the song in preparation for the next session.

Zara provided vocal coaching to Victoria, concentrating on enhancing her breath control, pitch accuracy, rhythm, and melody within a song. During their time together, Victoria diligently practiced specific sections of the piece, receiving valuable feedback and guidance from Zara on both technique and overall performance. For her continued development, Zara assigned Victoria the task of practicing the first verse, with a particular emphasis on rhythm and melody, and highlighted key points for the pre-chorus and chorus for her to remember.

The focus was on achieving smoother note transitions, improving breath control, and skillfully switching between head and chest voice. Victoria diligently practiced specific phrases and transitions, receiving tailored feedback from Zara. For homework, she is to practice the song, paying close attention to the pitch of particular phrases and comparing her rendition to the original recording.

Zara and Victoria collaborated on vocal techniques to refine Victoria's singing, specifically targeting challenging song sections. Their lesson focused on breath control, nasality, and vocal placement to boost resonance and clarity. Victoria's practice assignment includes the first half of the chorus, particularly the 'moved on' part, while Zara will provide vocal warm-up videos to assist with chest voice switching.

Zara guided a student from Lakewood High School through vocal warm-ups, focusing on breathing exercises, sirens, humming, lip trills, and 'ooh' sound exercises to explore vocal resonance and improve tone. The student practiced identifying resonance in their chest, head, and nasal passages. Zara assigned exercises focusing on head and chest voice and will introduce the 'hey' exercise next week, also providing links to additional resources.

Zara and Matilda engaged in a vocal lesson, concentrating on various techniques. They practiced resonance exercises using 'he,' 'who,' and 'hey' sounds, then applied these to singing lines from Matilda's song. The focus was on enhancing breath control, diaphragmatic support, and leveraging nasality to strengthen both head voice and lower notes. For continued practice, Zara assigned exercises for the 'he,' 'who,' and 'hey' sounds, as well as the 'N' sound on higher notes, and recommended working on the song passages.
