Ethan - Know your guitar teacher

Hi! I’m Ethan, a guitarist, performer, and teacher with a degree from Berklee College of Music. I’ve played major venues like Mercury Lounge in NYC with my band, The Wizard & The Wize, and have years of experience in performance, songwriting, and music education. My approach blends solid technique with creativity, mindfulness, and spiritual depth. I integrate practices like Qigong and breathwork into my teaching to help students not only improve technically but also connect more deeply with their instrument, body, and inner voice. Whether you're a beginner or a more advanced player, I tailor each lesson to your goals—offering guidance in guitar, songwriting, improvisation, and self-expression. Music is more than notes—it's a path to presence, confidence, and personal growth. I’m here to support your journey, wherever it begins.

Guitar lessons quick guide

My teaching method is rooted in the belief that every student has a unique voice and learning style. I utilize a variety of tools and resources to help you on your musical journey. I create a personalized, supportive environment that encourages both technical growth and creative expression. Lessons combine clear instruction in theory, technique, and rhythm with space for improvisation, songwriting, and exploration. I also incorporate breath work, posture, and energetic movement to help students release tension and develop stage presence. Whether you prefer structured goals or a more intuitive, flow-based approach, I adapt to what best serves your progress. I aim to help students build confidence, deepen their connection to their instrument, and stay inspired long-term. Every session is about more than just learning guitar—it’s about unlocking musical potential in body, mind, and spirit.

Guitar concepts taught by Ethan

Student learned 4 months ago

Ethan Moskowitz and Matheesha Gunawardana worked on ear training, covering intervals, solfège, and chord quality identification. Matheesha practiced recognizing major and minor chords by ear and received exercises for continued practice. Ethan sent Matheesha a video link for chord quality ear training and suggested focusing on major and minor chords initially.

Matheesha learned 5 months ago

Ethan and Matheesha had a guitar lesson focusing on music theory, including rhythm, chord theory, and harmonic analysis. They analyzed the song "Isn't She Lovely" in the key of E major, discussing scale degrees, chord types, and arpeggios. Ethan provided diagrams and backing tracks, and they planned to continue analyzing the song and explore triplets in the next session.

Ethan Moskowitz gave Jordan Tipton a guitar lesson focused on jazz improvisation techniques. They analyzed Joe Pass licks, discussed chromatic approaches and whole-tone scales, and differentiated between the altered and whole-tone scales. Ethan encouraged Jordan to analyze licks and apply the techniques to his playing, with plans to review progress next week.
