Experienced Online Mathematics Tutor with MSc Degree Focusing on Strong Concepts and Exam Success

I am Keerthana, an MSc Mathematics graduate with over two years of experience as an online, part-time mathematics tutor. My academic background and teaching journey have enabled me to develop strong subject knowledge, effective instructional strategies, and a student-centred approach to learning. Teaching mathematics has been a deeply fulfilling experience for me, as it allows me to help students overcome fear, build confidence, and develop logical thinking skills essential for both academics and real life. During my MSc in Mathematics, I gained a strong foundation in core mathematical concepts such as algebra, calculus, linear algebra, probability, statistics, and mathematical reasoning. This advanced academic training strengthened my analytical skills and prepared me to explain complex ideas in a clear and simplified manner. My postgraduate studies also helped me understand how mathematical concepts are interconnected, which has been extremely useful while teaching students of different academic levels. For the past two years, I have been working as an online mathematics tutor on a part-time basis, teaching students from various boards and educational backgrounds. I have taught school-level students as well as higher secondary students, adapting my teaching methods according to their syllabus, learning pace, and individual needs. Online teaching has helped me become proficient in using digital tools such as virtual whiteboards, screen sharing, presentation slides, and interactive problem-solving platforms to make sessions engaging and effective.

As an MSc Mathematics graduate with two years of experience in online part-time teaching, I strongly believe that every student can understand mathematics when it is taught with clarity, patience, and the right approach. My goal as an educator is not only to help students score well in examinations but also to develop their logical thinking, problem-solving ability, and confidence in the subject. The foundation of my teaching methodology lies in understanding the learner. At the beginning of my interaction with a student, I assess their current level of understanding through informal discussions, diagnostic questions, or short assessments. This helps me identify learning gaps, misconceptions, and areas of strength. Based on this assessment, I design customised lesson plans that match the student’s pace and academic requirements. I believe that teaching should be flexible rather than rigid, as every student learns differently.
