Laurie - Get to know your vocal coach
I am an experienced teacher. I have taught over 25 years and worked with a wide variety of students, of all ages ranges and ability levels. I believe a solid technical foundation enables you to successfully sing and play any type of music. I address vocal technique, artistry and expression, learning fundamentals, neuro-motor development for skill retention, and more. My students have been successful in auditions, performances, musical theatre roles, recitals and some have even earned college degrees in music. Music truly works the brain in a unique way, as it requires visual, kinesthetic and aural senses to all work in tandem. Thus learning to sing and play piano helps you with other skills and subjects. I tailor instruction to your individual goals, desires and ambitions. I will make a plan with you when we start to help you develop you skills to the maximum.

Methodology is vast. If you develop a good foundational singing technique, you can sing a variety of genres of songs. So we have to build on vocal exercise patterns to extend range, gain agility, improve breath control and more. You need lot of vocal skills to sing repertoire. You can target songs in your preferred genre to then apply and continue to work on vocal skills and to add artistry. Piano methods include Suzuki, Bastienne, Faber, Alfred and more. You can use one or combine more than one. Methods can be supplemented with songs of any type by finding individual sheet music songs of the proper level. Most pieces exist in versions ranging from beginner to advanced so it's easy to find one that works. You improve you skills across the board in learning and improving singing and piano. I will find the best repertoire and method for your case and goals.
