Laurie - Your piano teacher
I am an experienced piano and voice teacher. I earned my music degrees from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and the University of North Texas. I held a Teaching Fellowship during my graduate coursework. My students have earned many accolades including winning competitions, awards, and stellar performances. Some have even gone onto college music programs. Many have played in churches and other venues. I tailor instruction to your individual needs, goals and desires. I incorporate music theory in lessons as needed as well. You can gain knowledge to pass music theory tests as part of piano instruction. Sight reading is also an important component. Learning piano truly develops the brain as it incorporates audio, visual and tactile senses. It provides an excellent foundation for further musical learning and study. It will help you!

Methodology is based on many things. It is chosen based on student need. Many different curriculums exist. I will show you various options. You can then pick what you prefer. Books and individual pieces can be used independently and in combination. I do not rely on generic AI models. Many factors need to be considered. Popular methods to consider include FJH, Faber, Bastienne, Alfred, and Suzuki. Different genres can be covered in methods. I can use independent pieces to incorporate diversity and learning beyond one way . Methods can be used to meet need based on individual goals, desires and needs. There is no single avenue or way. Using more than one opens more possibilities. It simply needs to be chosen an selected based on individual and unique desires and needs. Adaptations can be made as skills progress, involved and grow. It is a path and journey.
