Chemistry Tutor at Southern Methodist University Offering Specialized Chemistry Instruction

Hello. My name is Ammar, and I am from Saudi Arabia, but I have spent most of my life in the US. I earned a Ph.D. in medicinal chemistry, a master's in biochemistry, and a bachelor's degree in electrical engineering/pre-med, with a minor in math and chemistry. I have had 10 years of personal tutoring experience, tutoring not only in chemistry (e.g., general chemistry, organic chemistry, and biochemistry) but also various math topics (i.e., from arithmetic, ACT/SAT math, to Calculus). My teaching style is patient where I try to see which concept my students are struggling with, and from there I seek to address it through discussion, critical analysis, demonstration, and practice problems. I strive to see that in the end, my students not only master the course objective, but that they understand the big picture: learning by understanding, not memorization.

I approach tutoring with a strong emphasis on patience, ensuring each student grasps complex concepts at their own pace. I specialize in teaching a wide array of chemistry subjects like high school chemistry, AP/general chemistry, organic chemistry, biochemistry, and even medicinal/pharmaceutical chemistry. I have also had extensive teaching experience in a variety of math courses, ranging from basic arithmetic to calculus. The type of students whom I have taught ranged from middle/junior high school to college level. By blending personalized tutoring with interactive online tools such as Zoom, Google Meet, and interactive whiteboards, I will create engaging and effective learning experiences. Following a comprehensive curriculum, I adapt my teaching to meet the diverse needs of students, making sure each individual achieves academic success.
