Guitar lessons quick guide
My teaching methodology combines a strong emphasis on foundational elements—such as tone, phrasing, and rhythm—with a personalized, song-based approach that puts the student’s musical interests at the center of every lesson. I believe that expressive playing starts with mastering the basics, so I help students develop solid technique while breaking down complex ideas into smaller, achievable goals. This keeps progress clear, manageable, and motivating. Whether you're picking up the guitar for the first time or refining advanced skills, I adapt each lesson to your pace and needs. Just as importantly, I build every session around songs or pieces you genuinely want to learn. When students connect emotionally to the music, they practice more consistently, have more fun, and see better results. This approach not only reinforces theory and technique in context but also cultivates long-term musical growth, creativity, and confidence.

Guitar concept taught by Brady
In this final lesson, Brady and Stuart reviewed bass guitar techniques and music theory concepts. They covered fingering exercises, fretboard layout, octaves, enharmonic notes, the circle of fifths, key signatures, and the relationship between major and minor keys. Brady advised Stuart to focus on repetition for muscle memory and to play songs he enjoys.

Brady Thomas gave Nombuso a bass guitar lesson over Zoom, which included fixing a broken vase, learning basic bass techniques like plucking and finger positioning, and practicing scales with a metronome. Brady corrected Nombuso's finger technique and emphasized the importance of rhythm. They agreed to continue with bass lessons next time, scheduling the next session for two weeks out due to Brady's travel.

Brady Thomas assisted Carrlee Crocker in refining her guitar chord transitions, specifically addressing the difficulties in switching between C, G, and E minor chords. They explored techniques to minimize finger movement and practiced strumming patterns with varied dynamics. Additionally, they discussed bar chords and capo usage, and Brady provided guidance on playing the song "Troubador" by George Strait.

Brady assisted Stuart, a left-handed bass player, in understanding scales (A, C, D flat major), fingering techniques, and basic music theory. Brady provided resources for left-handed players and emphasized the importance of consistent patterns and hand shapes for scales. Stuart was advised to focus on fingering exercises for homework, and Brady will send additional scale resources.
