Talia - Get to know your vocal coach

I am a graduate of a performing arts high school who has dabbled in everything from pop musical composition, to musical theater singing, to classical choral music. I cater to beginner and mid-level students and can get you started with repertoire and practice techniques you can practice right at home. I want to be part of what makes you fall in love with singing and music, and I would be honored if you allowed me to enter and help you pursue your craft to your highest potential. Let's work together to help you sing your heart out, loud and proud!

Singing lessons highlights

I am a very hands-on person when it comes to my teaching style and will prioritize instruction from myself directly to you. I try to emphasize musicality, expressiveness, and building confidence in my lessons and these cores are what help guide my training. In other words, vocal warmups and even repertoire itself will be based in making sure that you are free, expressive, and musical. I prioritize your learning by keeping groups small, no more than ten people. This ensures that each person can have their own time to receive feedback and actually make progress in every lesson. Additionally, it allows me to personalize and tailor my material to the people I am working with so that I can help learners get exactly what they want from singing. I want to set-up students to feel pride in themselves and their skills, and to motivate them to love to practice on their own. I want to inspire others to love music just as much as I do!

During their vocal lesson, Talia and Carson honed their skills with exercises such as breath control, sirens, and three-note sequences, all aimed at improving pitch accuracy and vocal placement. Carson dedicated time to singing 'Imagine' in a higher key. As homework, he will work on the second part of the first verse, and Talia will provide a recording to support his practice.

During their recent vocal lesson, Talia guided Carson through warm-ups, breathing exercises, and relative pitch practice using the Sing True app. Carson honed his vocal control and range by working on scales and sirens. Looking ahead to their next lesson in two weeks, Talia provided Carson with specific assignments: continuing exercises in the Sing True app, practicing breathing techniques, melodic whole-step singing, and mastering the first verse of "Imagine" in a higher key.

Talia guided Leah through vocal warm-ups and two song selections, "The Song of Sea Leaf Fall" for a one-act play and "Sento Nel Core" for All-State auditions. Their lesson concentrated on breath control, legato phrasing, and stylistic interpretation. For practice, Leah needs to work on the first verse of "The Song of Sea Leaf Fall" and the initial half of "Sento Nel Core," also remembering to send Talia the sheet music for the latter.
