Guitar Lessons with Theory Integration by Canterbury Christ Church University Educator

During a recent guitar lesson, Nicolas guided Arun through major and minor scales and arpeggios. The instruction emphasized understanding the formulas for each and practicing proper finger placement. They also dedicated time to applying these musical concepts across different keys and resolved a problem with a muted string on Arun's guitar. As a follow-up, Nicolas tasked Arun with reviewing major scales and arpeggios, plus the minor scale formula.

Nicolas tutored Arun on guitar, covering major and minor triads, major scales using the tone-tone-semitone formula, and an introduction to major 7 chords. Arun practiced triad shapes and was assigned homework to practice major and minor triads, naming the notes to improve fretboard familiarity. They plan to continue with major 7 chords in the next session.

On July 1, 2025, Nicolas taught Arun guitar techniques including rhythm in 6/8 time, barre chords, partial and open chord shapes, and music theory. They focused on the 1-3-5 formula for chord construction, emphasizing the third's role in determining major or minor chords, and Arun was assigned homework to practice major and minor thirds.

Nicolas and Arun had a guitar lesson focusing on scales, arpeggios, rhythm exercises, and learning a worship song. Arun practiced chord progressions, finger exercises, and discussed guitar pedals and equipment. Nicolas assigned practice with the worship song and counting rhythms, with plans to continue scale theory in the next session.

Nicolas tutored Arun on guitar, covering fretboard exercises, scales, chord progressions, and fingerpicking techniques. Arun practiced identifying notes, forming chords, and applying palm-muting. They discussed scheduling the next lesson for the following Tuesday and explored options for discounted lessons outside of the app.
