Naoise Fitzgerald coached Kim Lawton on vocal exercises, specifically applying them to the song "Black Velvet." Kim focused on scales, vocal warm-ups, and various techniques including legato, staccato, and belting. For homework, Naoise assigned Kim practice recordings of trills and scales, with their next lesson scheduled for Monday.

Vocal Warm-ups
Naoise Fitzgerald led a vocal lesson, guiding an individual from North End through exercises to improve scales, pitch, and breath control. These foundational skills were then applied to the song "Sarah," with a focus on phrasing and rhythm. Feedback was provided on specific sections of the song, and homework included practicing the 'do-re-mi' scale and recording the first verse of "Black Velvet." The next lesson was scheduled for Saturday afternoon.

Naoise coached Ranjani in a vocal lesson centered on the song "Let It Go" from Frozen. Their work together honed in on vocal warm-ups, breath control, and pronunciation. Ranjani actively engaged in practicing scales, trills, and navigating transitions between falsetto and belting. For their next lesson, Naoise tasked Ranjani with recording the chorus to demonstrate improved pronunciation and continuing trill exercises.

During a recent vocal lesson, Naoise and Kim focused on scales, applying these techniques to Kim's rendition of the song "Sarah." Naoise provided detailed feedback on Kim's pitch, timing, phrasing, and breath control. For practice, Naoise will record scale exercises for Kim. Their next lesson is set to tackle "Black Velvet," though a future session will need to be skipped due to Kim's travel plans. This builds on previous work where the vocal coach and Kim had concentrated on developing a stronger chest voice and managing performance anxiety. During that prior lesson, various vocal exercises were practiced and applied to the song 'Stupid with Love.' The conversation also touched upon Kim's personal life, including an upcoming date and her preparations for a pre-calculus workshop as a student at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro. No specific assignments were given during that earlier lesson.

Recording Environment
Naoise and Kim worked on vocal exercises to expand Kim's range and incorporate vibrato into her singing. Kim practiced scales and applied the trill technique to the song 'Sarah,' focusing on specific phrases and diction. Naoise assigned practice exercises for the week, including recording the trill exercise and a portion of 'Sarah,' and they discussed the possibility of an in-person lesson and plans to work on "Black Velvet" next week.
