I am Miss Tomiyah, and my passion for music began at the age of 9 when I first picked up an instrument. Since then, I have fallen in love with the language of music and its ability to connect people. Over the years, I have studied music theory with various teachers and have had the pleasure of performing at recitals and community events. Teaching music brings me immense joy because I believe in the transformative power of learning. I love sharing my skills with students of all ages and backgrounds, helping them discover their own musical voices. I often remind my students that "Learning a new skill isn't easy, but your determination can overcome any doubt." I am excited to connect with those who are eager to learn and grow in their musical journey! I have most experience teaching piano lessons in schools and in home private lessons. The youngest I teach is 4 and there is no limit to any age after!! I welcome and love all ages and I'm excited to hear back from yall!

My teaching approach encompasses a blend of sight reading, technique emphasis, like tempo and progressive scales. I encourage my students with expressive musicality to provide engaging and progressive piano lessons. I cater to students of beginner and intermediate levels, whether it's your first time learning to play or you have prior experience and need a good refresher to enhance your skills. I'm excited to work with you! I utilize many physical books, and during our first lesson, I'll provide the necessary books that are required for future lessons. I like going the old fashion way but I also integrate many "new age" material as well like online platforms, video tutorials and certain music software. I ensure personalized tutoring experiences based on the student that enhances learning outcomes and I follow a comprehensive curriculum tailored to individual student needs. I focus of nurturing creativity and encouraging students to create their own masterpieces.
