About your vocal coach
If you’re reading this, I take it that you want to free some kind of block within you! My name is Mari Aoki, singer, songwriter, and dancer. Be it a confidence block, creative block, or simple a technical block, I’m interested in work through it together. Aside from the vocal pedagogy, I specialize in live performance, movement, and over all stage presence and expression. To support this, I will provide you with proper vocal exercises, practice methods (to build stamina for a disciplined artistic practice), and performance prep methods. I want to help you embody the story teller you really are inside. I recently graduated Berklee College of Music with a M.B in. Professional Music in 2023. I have also been singing live for over 10 years, On stages like the Fenway Baseball Stadium, to Churches, to Bars, to even DIY basement shows. I want to share the wisdom I wish I had when I was starting out. So check my profile out and let’s get to work!

Singing lessons overview
As both a dancer and singer, My focus will be on making you a better performer on stage, as well as meeting your personal goals. To accomplish this, I start my lessons with each student by discussing what your over all goal is. We will also set a “deadline” (if you have a performance to work towards, even better) to accomplish this goal by. This is important as, accumulated knowledge and muscle memory will dissolve without being applied in real life. From there, I ask the student to select a piece or two to focus on. Using these pieces, we can pin point where the student is running to road blocks. I will select appropriate drills or warm ups to address each issue! This will include a diaphragmic conditioning excersizes, breath support excersizes, pitch accuracy excersizes, rhythmic excersizes and more.
