As a passionate learner and aspiring educator, I have always believed that teaching is not just about transferring knowledge but about inspiring curiosity, critical thinking, and a lifelong love for learning. My teaching journey began during my undergraduate studies when I helped my peers prepare for semester examinations. This informal peer tutoring allowed me to break down complex topics into simpler concepts and present them in ways that were easier to understand. I realized that the process of explaining something to others not only helped them but also reinforced my own understanding. During my postgraduate studies, I took part in departmental seminars and was often asked to present topics to fellow students. These sessions required me to conduct in-depth research, prepare structured content, and confidently explain technical subjects to a group. I also guided juniors in their practical lab work, helping them troubleshoot experiments, understand protocols, and interpret results. These moments gave me hands-on experience in a teaching-like role, where patience and adaptability were essential. I learned to adjust my approach based on the student’s level of understanding and background knowledge. A more formal teaching experience came during my M.Tech program when I volunteered as a teaching assistant for undergraduate biotechnology labs.

One of my most effective teaching strategies is breaking down complex topics into smaller, digestible parts. I avoid overwhelming students by first giving them a broad overview of the topic, then gradually introducing the finer details. I use analogies and real-life examples to simplify abstract concepts. For instance, while explaining enzymatic reactions, I compare enzymes to "keys" and substrates to "locks" to help students visualize specificity and function. This method makes scientific ideas more relatable and easier to grasp. Visual aids are a core part of my teaching. I frequently use diagrams, flowcharts, tables, and graphs to present information clearly. When teaching in labs or practical settings, I demonstrate each step of the experiment before asking students to perform it themselves. I also encourage them to draw what they observe or sketch process diagrams to reinforce understanding. For theoretical sessions, I prepare slide presentations but keep them minimal and focused, using them as a support rather than reading material.
