About your tutor

Hello my fellow musicians! My name is Onyx Rooch and I am a passionate violin tutor specializing in classical music. I started violin when I was 11 and immediately fell in love with the subject. Music became my life and my passion, and I have wonderful violin teachers to thank for that! I have a Bachelor's degree in Music Education from Stephen F. Austin State University in Texas. I have taught for 5 years, both online and in person, in public school and private lessons. When I am not playing violin, I love petting my cats and reading books on my porch. I am passionate about sharing music with my community and would be so excited to work with you!

I teach all ages and all skill levels. When I teach, I meet you where you're at and focus on everything from foundations to advanced technique. My lessons are highly interactive and engaging, including games to help learn some of these tricky methods that violinists use. One of the most important things to me is creating a solid relationship with my students, to build trust in the classroom. I also encourage violin theory and composition to be included in lessons, allowing my students to explore music through their own interests. We all have different lenses into the world, and I am passionate about my student's being able to explore their love for music.
