Singing lessons highlights
I offer personalized tutoring in singing, mainly focused on genres such as pop, folk, rock, and musical theatre. My patient and engaging teaching style emphasizes pitch perfection, confidence, and power. I am a strong believer in relaxation exercises, breathing techniques, and full-body warmups as essential foundations for singing. I create interactive lessons for kids, beginners, intermediates, and adults. I work on tailoring each lesson to the individual strengths and weaknesses of each student in order to optimize our time together. With tools such as detailed note-taking, recorded lessons, and practice plans, students can take their knowledge outside of the classroom and improve even more on their own time. I believe in the power of patience and positive affirmation, as well as gentle correction. Students deserve to feel safe and confident in their skills while still learning to work through their weaker points.

Angela guided MM115 Terminator through vocal warm-ups and the art of singing harmonies, using the Disney song "Love is an Open Door." During their lesson, they dedicated time to practicing different vocal parts and identifying harmonic structures. For homework, MM115 Terminator was tasked with listening to duets and practicing singing along with a specific part, in preparation for their next lesson.

Angela and Zoey focused on vocal technique, working to expand Zoey's range and learn 'A Million Dreams' from The Greatest Showman. Their lesson also delved into minor chords and basic music theory, specifically intervals. Angela suggested Zoey practice the full song on Spotify and explore learning an instrument to help with songwriting.

Angela and Don focused on refining his original song and began learning a cover of Lady Gaga's "Joanne." Don dedicated his efforts to enhancing his singing with emotional depth and vocal support techniques. Angela will provide Don with a video of her song for emotional analysis, and they've set another lesson for the following week.

Angela guided Zoey through a songwriting lesson, delving into essential elements like song structure (verse, chorus, bridge), various rhyme schemes, and effective lyric writing techniques. With Angela's support, Zoey successfully composed a Christmas song, concentrating on crafting verses and a chorus that maintained a consistent rhyme scheme. For their upcoming lesson, Angela tasked Zoey with independently writing another song and proposed incorporating vocal practice alongside songwriting in future lessons.

During a recent vocal lesson, Angela guided Riya through vocal exercises and two songs, "How It's Done" and "Touch." Their work together emphasized techniques such as nasal resonance, hard onsets, and clear pronunciation. Riya dedicated her efforts to hitting high notes and enhancing her overall vocal commitment. For continued practice, Angela assigned exercises including tongue twisters and specific sections of the songs. They also adjusted their next lesson to an earlier time due to scheduling conflicts.
