Hi, my name is Isobel! Alongside several years working in high school education in Perth, WA, I bring my interdisciplinary background in film and media, and social sciences, to my work as a tutor and teacher. I have been teaching English to online learners in China for the past year, and tutoring high school English and Media across Australia remotely. My tutoring style provides a calm, friendly, and comfortable environment for learning, focusing on real world applications and building confidence. I tailor classes based on individual student needs and preferences, whether that is focused support on specific course concepts, assessment help, or general weekly classwork assistance — we work together to help bridge any gaps in comprehension, progress toward your desired class outcomes, develop stronger study habits, and develop a deeper connection to your learning. I encourage discussion in our classes to talk through ideas and concepts — students have the opportunity to share their knowledge with me, too, creating a reciprocal space for learning. An aspect of tutoring that I find very rewarding is the opportunity to support students to have a positive relationship with their learning, encouraging them be deep and critical thinkers as they move forward in their education journeys and beyond. Additionally, I am extremely passionate about media studies, storytelling, languages, and geopolitics, so it is always a treat to support students working in subjects that touch on any of these areas.
