Pranav - Know your tutor
I am Pranav Sharma, currently pursuing an Honours Bachelor of Civil Law with French Law at University College Dublin, Ireland, where I am part of a bijural law program that encompasses both English common law and French civil law. I have recently completed an exchange program at Université Toulouse 1 Capitole in France, where I took core French civil law courses. Additionally, I hold an Honours Bachelor of Arts from the University of Toronto, with a double major in Sociology and French, and a Language Citation in French. I also have a detailed background in mathematical sociology. My teaching experience is extensive and diverse. I have worked for the Peel District School Board, where I taught Grade 5 math. My passion for teaching French was further honed at Just Grades Learning Centre in Brampton, where I managed the French program. This role involved creating and administering tests, reviewing grades, supervising other tutors, and conducting meetings with parents. I taught French to students from Grade 1 to Grade 12, ensuring they developed a strong foundation in the language. My educational background, combined with my practical experience in teaching and my fluency in French and English, makes me well-suited for a tutoring position. I am dedicated to fostering a supportive and engaging learning environment where students can thrive and develop their language skills.

The Tutor and Student worked on solving quadratic equations by completing the square to find the vertex form and vertex coordinates. They practiced several examples, including cases with leading coefficients other than one, and briefly discussed finding roots from the vertex form, with plans for further practice on identifying parabola characteristics in the next session.

Vertex Form of a Parabola
Finding Roots of a Quadratic Equation
Parabola Characteristics
The tutor and student reviewed conversions between fractions, decimals, and percentages. They practiced converting between these forms using methods such as finding common denominators, long division, and decimal point manipulation. The session concluded with a discussion of a conversion chart and preparation for an upcoming mini-quiz on number sense topics.

The tutor and student reviewed and applied quadratic functions to model projectile motion and then to solve an optimization problem involving area maximization for a storage space. They practiced using the quadratic formula and understanding the properties of parabolas to find maximum values. The student was assigned to algebraically determine the axis of symmetry for a given function as preparation for the next class.
